Многие удивлялись декабрьскому решению Трампа одобрить поставку Джавелинов Украине. Как мы все помним, люди Трампа добились исключения пункта о поставке оружия Украине из платформы республиканской партии. Так что решение о Джавелинах выглядело достаточно неожиданно.

Те, кто пытались объяснить это видимое противоречие, -- в частности, я -- указывали на то, что в администрации Трампа есть люди с сильно отличной от Трампа позицией в отношении России. И, из-за некомпетентности Трампа, многие решения администрации принимаются в обход президента.

Однако, есть и другое объяснение, попроще. Сегодняшняя статья в NYT.

Ukraine, Seeking U.S. Missiles, Halted Cooperation With Mueller Investigation

In the United States, Paul J. Manafort is facing prosecution on charges of money laundering and financial fraud stemming from his decade of work for a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine.

But in Ukraine, where officials are wary of offending President Trump, four meandering cases that involve Mr. Manafort, Mr. Trump’s former campaign chairman, have been effectively frozen by Ukraine’s chief prosecutor.

The cases are just too sensitive for a government deeply reliant on United States financial and military aid, and keenly aware of Mr. Trump’s distaste for the investigation by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, into possible collusion between Russia and his campaign, some lawmakers say. [...]

Volodymyr Ariev, a member of Parliament who is an ally of President Petro O. Poroshenko, readily acknowledged that the intention in Kiev was to put investigations into Mr. Manafort’s activities “in the long-term box.”

“In every possible way, we will avoid irritating the top American officials,” Mr. Ariev said in an interview. “We shouldn’t spoil relations with the administration.” [...]

In another move seeming to hinder Mr. Mueller’s investigation, Ukrainian law enforcement allowed a potential witness to possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to leave for Russia, putting him out of reach for questioning.

The special counsel’s office has identified the man, Konstantin V. Kilimnik, Mr. Manafort’s former office manager in Kiev, as tied to a Russian intelligence agency. Mr. Kilimnik was also under investigation in Ukraine over espionage, but no charges were filed before he left the country, sometime after June. During the 2016 campaign, Mr. Kilimnik met twice with Mr. Manafort. In December, a court filing in the United States said Mr. Kilimnik was “currently based in Russia.”

Следует отдать должное: очень профессиональное изложение, не сообщающее ни одного факта, но создающее "правильный" осадочек в голове читателя. Прям, как в российских СМИ..

Ха, ха, ха. Ну, действительно, откуда у Трампа может быть "distaste" к расследованию Мюллера? И, даже, если может быть какой-то манюсенький "distaste" у Трампа есть, то он его очень хорошо скрывает, потомучта "ни одного факта".

В смысле, ни одного факта? Ну, да, некоторые депутаты Рады это и говорят. Вы статью-то прочли? Там, например, приводятся слова Арьева.

Я, собственно, сразу и полез читать статью. И сразу обратил внимание на вот такие мелочи - после чтения российских новостей, знаете ли, очень бросается в глаза.

А после того, как я прочитал хронологию событий

Я видел, что там упоминаются слова украинского депутата Арьева. Каким образом они связаны с процитированным выше абзаце и выделенными в нём словами?

Арьев -- один из тех, кто "keenly aware". Я, правда, не знаю, кто из украинских политиков может быть unaware of "Mr. Trump’s distaste for the investigation by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, into possible collusion between Russia and his campaign".

Так я ж ничего не говорю про awareness Арьева. Мой комментарий совсем о другом.
