Трамп, как и обещал, развернул борьбу за права LGBT. Начал он эту борьбу с того, что объявил в Твиттерре, что "the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military." Потому что "Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you."

Не буду сейчас обсуждать, насколько уместно объявлять о подобном решении через Твиттер. Но замечу, что очень странно при этом призывать, как это делают многие республиканские политики, не обращать внимания на трамповские твиты.

По поводу "the tremendous medical costs" я на прошлой неделе по христианскому радио слышал про миллиарды, на которые можно купить самолеты, танки, хотя есть и другие мнения. (В скобках замечу, что по христианскому радио не призывали запретить трансгендерам служить в армии, призывали только не оплачивать операции по смене пола.)

Но я сейчас не буду обсуждать, насколько правильным, с моральной точки зрения, или с точки зрения "decisive and overwhelming victory", является запрет на службу в армии женщинам, геям, трансгендерам... Я о другом хочу сказать.

В армии сейчас служат несколько тысяч трансгендеров. Это всего пара тысячных десятых процента от общего числа американских военных, но это тысяча/тысячи людей. Какой будет их судьба? Их завтра по домам всех отправят? Послезавтра?

Казалось бы, при обсуждении решения о запрете на службу трансгендеров, этот вопрос должен был быть одним из главных. В конце концов, военные -- это ведь герои наши, и Трамп за них тоже обещал to fight, наверняка.

Естественно, на сегодняшнем пресс-брифинге (ниже) пресс-секретаря Трампа многократно об этом спрашивают. Что она отвечает? Правильно, "не знаю, кто-то will look into it и придумает, как поступить с трансгендерами в армии, чтобы это было законно".

Что тут сказать -- Sad.

Зато перед началом брифинга Сара Хакаби-Сандерс зачитала письмо 9-летнего поклонника Трампа и ответила на его вопросы. Письмо (via tijd) привожу ниже.

The 2016 Rand study, titled "Assessing the Implications of Allowing Transgender Personnel to Serve Openly," estimates that between 1,320 and 6,630 of 1.3 million active duty service members may be transgender.

Если бы после указания на ошибку, пресс-секретарь Трампа ответил, что Трамп knew exactly what he was doing, то вполне вероятно, что я написал бы об этом. После чего Вы и другие трамписты в комментариях объяснили бы, что да, и Трамп прав, и его пресс-секретарь.

Обьяснение проще:
согласно Вашим выкладкам этих тансжендеров в армии несколько больше тысячной доли.
Т.е. не "пара тысячных процента", а "пара тысячных".
Т.е. Яков сделал невинную оговорку (причем порядок величины указал правильно - тысячи).

Но у этих правых (точнее у тампизьян, правый - это МакКейн и другие солидные консерваторы) - так вот у трампизьян обычай замечать соринку в глазу ближнего, не замечая бревна в собственном глазу - того, что их кумир - бесстыдный лжец и лицемер, легко нарушающий все свои обещания.

Это Вас надо спросить, почему до 30 Июня 2016 трансгендеров не брали, а проявившихся - увольняли, и всё было тихо, а тут ВДРУГ вся девиантная шобла на всю страну вой подняла (равно как и с travel ban).

Наверное, разрешили служить по тем же причинам, по которым разрешили служить женщинам? А потом отменили "don't ask don't tell" ? Вероятно, вы не заметили - но Америка, как и весь мир, движется в направлении равенства - что доступно одним, то доступно и другим. И пытаться повернуть процесс вспять - это как ссать против ветра.

А что "previous policy" считали - ну так и неграм когда-то слова не давали. Потом вдоуг взяли и поменяли policy с previous на current.

Кому мешал DADT? Кто его отменил? Вы, естественно, не знаете. Так я Вам скажу - внес законопроект Jason Altmire (демократ) в декабре 2010, а кто президентом тогда был? Пока был DADT, "нормальные" (без явной дисфории) трансгендеры служили и их никто не спрашивал. Так что корень проблемы - совсем не Трамп, а тот, при ком отменили DADT.

A 2016 study by Rand Corp., the Santa Monica-based think tank, estimated 6,630 transgender individuals were in active military service. The total force is about 1.3 million.

The Rand study, commissioned by the Pentagon, estimated that between 30 and 140 new hormone treatments a year could be initiated by transgender service members under the Obama-era opening. It also predicted 25 to 130 gender transition-related surgeries a year among active service members.

As a result, it said, military healthcare costs could increase by $2.4 million to $8.4 million a year -- a 0.13% increase in current medical spending.
