Трамп, как и обещал, развернул борьбу за права LGBT. Начал он эту борьбу с того, что объявил в Твиттерре, что "the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military." Потому что "Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you."

Не буду сейчас обсуждать, насколько уместно объявлять о подобном решении через Твиттер. Но замечу, что очень странно при этом призывать, как это делают многие республиканские политики, не обращать внимания на трамповские твиты.

По поводу "the tremendous medical costs" я на прошлой неделе по христианскому радио слышал про миллиарды, на которые можно купить самолеты, танки, хотя есть и другие мнения. (В скобках замечу, что по христианскому радио не призывали запретить трансгендерам служить в армии, призывали только не оплачивать операции по смене пола.)

Но я сейчас не буду обсуждать, насколько правильным, с моральной точки зрения, или с точки зрения "decisive and overwhelming victory", является запрет на службу в армии женщинам, геям, трансгендерам... Я о другом хочу сказать.

В армии сейчас служат несколько тысяч трансгендеров. Это всего пара тысячных десятых процента от общего числа американских военных, но это тысяча/тысячи людей. Какой будет их судьба? Их завтра по домам всех отправят? Послезавтра?

Казалось бы, при обсуждении решения о запрете на службу трансгендеров, этот вопрос должен был быть одним из главных. В конце концов, военные -- это ведь герои наши, и Трамп за них тоже обещал to fight, наверняка.

Естественно, на сегодняшнем пресс-брифинге (ниже) пресс-секретаря Трампа многократно об этом спрашивают. Что она отвечает? Правильно, "не знаю, кто-то will look into it и придумает, как поступить с трансгендерами в армии, чтобы это было законно".

Что тут сказать -- Sad.

Зато перед началом брифинга Сара Хакаби-Сандерс зачитала письмо 9-летнего поклонника Трампа и ответила на его вопросы. Письмо (via tijd) привожу ниже.

Surgery on female organs.
Brain surgery.

Detached retina.
Intestinal (bowel) resection.
Victims of physical or sexual abuse.
Any applicant who has a tattoo, brands, or ornamentation relative to a gang membership or gang activities is potentially disqualified.

Finally, these conditions are always permanently disqualifying:

Vision
Blindness in one or both eyes.
Diplopia. Cataracts; cataract surgery (unless there is an intraocular lens implant).
Visual acuity not correctable to at least 20/400.
History of keratotomy or kertomileusis.
Keratonoconus of any degree.
Refractive error in excess of +/-8.00 diopters.
Seizure disorder after age 5 and with seizure activity
and/or anticonvulsant medication in the 5 years immediately preceding MEPS physical examination.
Diabetes requiring insulin therapy or prolonged therapy of any type.
Heart attack (myocardial infarction).
Valvular disease of the heart.
High blood pressure (hypertension), even if controlled by medication.
Cerebral palsy.
Muscular dystrophy (progressive atrophy of the muscles).
Multiple sclerosis (nerve disease involving muscle weakness and lack of coordination).
Mental retardation.
Imbecility (feebleness of the mind).
Emotional illness.
Schizophrenia and other psychosis or serious mental
Drug or alcohol addiction (active).
Hermaphroditism (state characterized by the presence of both male and female sex organs).
Leprosy.
Mutism or aphonia , regardless of cause.
Amputation of arm or leg.

Или каким таким образом трансы попадали на службу, если, как вы считаете, им постоянно нужны стероиды и вообще они эмоционально больны, а ?
