Not one of the five candidates came anywhere close to saying yes.

The closest we got was a follow-up from Hugh to State Senator Michelle Benson, her answer: "He was certified by Congress as having won the Electoral College."

A close pretzel-twisting second place by Paul Gazelka: "I don't think election was fair, but I do think we have the results we have and the Electoral College is the way that we determine the election. Each state does their own deal. I'm not a big fan of how that all played out."

Давайте я вас немножко научу матчасти. Выборы президента посредством электорального колледжа имели своей целью ограничить власть парламента (конгресса).
Такое явление, как прямые всеобщие выборы, 200+ лет назад выглядело нонсенсом, точно так же как выглядело нонсенсом участие в выборах женщин или негров.
