Иран-контрас во время администрации Рейгана привел к схожему или большему количеству найденных виновными или обвиненных. Большую часть из них помиловал новый президент Буш ст., по рекомендации генпрокурора Уильма Барра, являющимся и нынешним генпрокурором. Благодаря помилованию обвиненные не дошли до суда.

His convictions were also overturned on appeal on similar grounds."
