These aren’t people. These are animals."

The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!

CNN and others in the Fake News Business keep purposely and inaccurately reporting that I said the “Media is the Enemy of the People.” Wrong! I said that the “Fake News (Media) is the Enemy of the People,” a very big difference. When you give out false information - not good!
Затем заменил "Fake News (Media)" на просто "The Mainstream Media":
The Mainstream Media is under fire and being scorned all over the World as being corrupt and FAKE. For two years they pushed the Russian Collusion Delusion when they always knew there was No Collusion. They truly are the Enemy of the People and the Real Opposition Party!
The press is doing everything within their power to fight the magnificence of the phrase, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! They can’t stand the fact that this Administration has done more than virtually any other Administration in its first 2yrs. They are truly the ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!

The President then remarked that if we discovered a Soviet spy, we would have to expose all our intelligence sources and methods in order to obtain a conviction. Even if convicted, a spy would probably be sentenced to only six years and would be replaced by six more spies. In this situation, about all the FBI can do is keep spies under surveillance.

Who cared about Trump back in the 1990s? The guy who objected to this painting was his current lawyer - and at the time it was a lot more important. I remember that exhibition - and this painting. I must say, Mr. Giuliani, with his customary sense of taste, picked on one of the best works in the show. The crap here is this photo - the picture is anything but. Happy the thing is now at MOMA - it deserves to be there.

Who cared about Trump back in the 1990s?

Trump made comments about the painting in 1999 while running for president as a Reform Party candidate.

Good article about Trump and the arts, from beginning to the end:

His first media spectacle, in 1980, focused on the then-33-year-old developer destroying a pair of Art Deco reliefs that were part of the facade of the Bonwit Teller Building in midtown Manhattan, which Trump tore down to build his Trump Tower. The Metropolitan Museum of Art wanted the reliefs for its collection, as the Washington Post recalled in a bit of retrospective reporting recently, and Trump agreed to donate them, if the cost of their removal wasn’t prohibitive. It wasn’t, but Trump’s construction crew destroyed the works anyway. <...>
He has been flirting with a presidential run since the late ’80s; as early as 1999, he made a public call for censorship and claimed that his hypothetical presidency would cut federal funding for the arts. That was the year that Mayor Rudolph Giuliani embarked on a crusade against the Brooklyn Museum for its exhibition of Chris Ofili’s The Holy Mary Virgin (1996), which depicts the Madonna in materials including oil paint, glitter, and elephant dung. Giuliani told the Times the work wasn’t art because he could make it himself. He went so far as to try to cancel the institution’s lease with the city, evicting it from its home of more than 100 years. Outside of religious groups, Giuliani had few allies in this fight in New York, besides Trump, who released a statement to the Daily News—in reference to what the paper referred to only as “the Brooklyn Museum’s elephant-dung Madonna”—saying, “As president, I would ensure that the National Endowment of the Arts stops funding of this sort.” (The Daily News pointed out that the organization’s correct title is “National Endowment for the Arts,” and that the NEA did not give any funding to the Brooklyn Museum’s show that featured Ofili.) Regarding the Ofili, Trump continued: “It’s not art. It’s absolutely gross, degenerate stuff.” Note the word “degenerate.” There was, of course, another politician who used that adjective to describe works of art that offended him. <...>
But, oddly enough, Trump did have a brief moment as a public-art advocate. He was a major supporter in the late-90s of a planned installation along the Hudson River of a statue of Christopher Columbus by Russian artist Zurab Tsereteli. New York eventually rejected the sculpture, as did a variety of other American cities that Teserteli attempted to donate his work to, including Baltimore; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Miami; and—of all places—Columbus, Ohio. Looking back on it now, Trump’s pride in the sculpture seems just about right. The work is not so dissimilar from one of his hotels. Standing nearly 350 feet tall and weighing in at about 600 tons, the work—as Trump explained in a New Yorker profile from 1997—has “forty million dollars’ worth of bronze in it.”

“Like every President since Harry Truman, I enjoyed the privilege of hearing Mr. Cliburn play, and I am confident that the enduring beauty of his art will sustain his legendary status for years to come.”
https://www.politico.com/blogs/politico44/2013/03/obama-on-van-cliburn-158325

This White House has been, and is likely to remain, home to the first presidency in American history that is almost completely devoid of culture. In the 17 months that Donald Trump has been in office, he has hosted only a few artists of any kind. One was the gun fetishist Ted Nugent. Another was Kid Rock. They went together (and with Sarah Palin). Neither performed.
Since his inauguration in January 2017, there have been no official concerts at the White House (the Reagans had one every few weeks). No poetry readings (the Obamas regularly celebrated young poets). The Carters began a televised series, “In Performance at the White House,” which last aired in 2016, where artists as varied as Mikhail Baryshnikov and Patricia McBride performed in the East Room. The Clintons continued the series with Aretha Franklin and B. B. King, Alison Krauss and Linda Ronstadt.
But aside from occasional performances by “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, the White House is now virtually free of music. Never have we had a president not just indifferent to the arts, but actively oppositional to artists. Mr. Trump disparaged the play “Hamilton” and a few weeks later attacked Meryl Streep. He has said he does not have time to read books (“I read passages, I read areas, I read chapters”). Outside of recommending books by his acolytes, Mr. Trump has tweeted about only one work of literature since the beginning of his presidency: Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury.” It was not an endorsement.

"Mr. Trump directed me to find a straw bidder to purchase a portrait of him that was being auctioned at an Art Hamptons Event. The objective was to ensure that his portrait, which was going to be auctioned last, would go for the highest price of any portrait that afternoon. The portrait was purchased by the fake bidder for $60,000. Mr. Trump directed the Trump Foundation, which is supposed to be a charitable organization, to repay the fake bidder, despite keeping the art for himself."

The ex-MI6 source said: “The way this was done in Russia is that nothing was written down. Don’t expect me or anyone else to produce a document with Putin’s signature saying please X bribe Y with this amount in this way. He’s not going to do that.”
He went on: “Putin is an ex-intelligence officer. Everything he does has to be deniable,” and said the deals with voters “would have been strategic level but not state to state because of the need for deniability. That’s why the oligarchs were brought in.”
The ex-MI6 source said the intelligence about “collusion” between the Russian and Qatari bids centred on a visit by Igor Sechin, Russia’s deputy prime minister and the country’s most powerful oil magnate, to Doha in April 2010 to discuss the Yamal gas deal.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/putin-sent-tame-oligarchs-on-deniable-missions-to-win-bid-90hcr2q9mch

Some of those “deniable” acts, according to the Sunday Times, included the handing out of high-priced art to FIFA voters, including a painting believed to be by Pablo Picasso to UEFA’s Platini and an additional landscape painting to FIFA voting member Michel D’Hooghe of Belgium. The latter painting was said to be wrapped in a paper bag and given to D’Hooghe by Vyacheslav Koloskov, a former FIFA vice president and Russia 2018 World Cup committee member.
D’Hooghe, who is reportedly being investigated along with four others by FIFA in a new corruption probe connected to the World Cup bids, confirmed the receipt of the painting to the Sunday Times, but noted he thought it held no monetary value. He also said it was “absolutely ugly” and added that he did not vote for Russia to win the 2018 bid.
Platini, however, denies the allegation that he was given a Picasso painting from Putin.
“Allegations in the Sunday Times relating to my actions in the 2018 and 2022 bidding processes are total fabrications,” Platini told CNN. “The matter has now been passed to my legal advisers.”

Why? I mean, it would have been miraculous a generation or two earlier, before these people had a chance to spend time in Britain and see actual professional oil painting. Copley´s genius was needed to "reinvent" the art on his own. British training produced decent portraitists.

In general, these days I find the obscene itself more attractive than the art that just pretends to look obscene at times, so the beauty may be lost on me, if I ever go back to MOMA. My best memory of Brooklyn Museum is its Rodin sculprures.

Steven Cohen, the hedge fund billionaire with one of the world’s most prestigious private art collections, has donated Ofili’s work to the Museum of Modern Art. Mr Cohen, who three years ago paid £3.4 million for the work once owned by Charles Saatchi, has given it to the New York museum along with a £38 million donation.
Coincidentally or not, Mr Cohen happens to have been targeted by Mr Giuliani when the former mayor, who is now a legal adviser to President Trump, was the US attorney in New York. Mr Giuliani initiated fraud investigations against various firms in the 1980s.
Mr Cohen, 61, was questioned but never charged. In 2013, however, his company pleaded guilty to insider trading and he agreed not to handle outside money for two years.
