Сегодня был получен ответ на вопрос Поздравит ли Трамп Путина?

Трамп Путина поздравил. Причем в записи по ссылке, еще до поздравлений, мне говорили, что ну как не поздравить, традиция такая, да и Обама Путина в 2012 году поздравил.

Теперь мы знаем, что это все ерунда. Советники Трампа (которые знают о традициях больше, чем Трамп) специально инструктировали Трампа НЕ поздравлять Путина с победой на выборах во время сегодняшнего телефонного звонка.

Trump’s national security advisers warned him not to congratulate Putin. He did it anyway.

President Trump did not follow specific warnings from his national security advisers when he congratulated Russian President Vladi­mir Putin Tuesday on his reelection, including a section in his briefing materials in all-capital letters stating “DO NOT CONGRATULATE,” according to officials familiar with the call.

Trump also chose not to heed talking points from aides instructing him to condemn Putin about the recent poisoning of a former Russian spy in the United Kingdom with a powerful nerve agent, a case that both the British and U.S. governments have blamed on Moscow.

Ну, вот как это объяснить? Самое доброжелательное объяснение -- это, наверное, "Трамп вообще не смотрел на briefing materials". Но это же совсем идиотизм какой-то.

Теперь о самом факте поздравлений. Да, Обама тоже поздравил Путина в 2012 году. Обама сделал это позже и формулировка была несколько другой. Но это excuses, Обама был тогда неправ. Как неправы сейчас все западные политики, которые поздравили Путина.

Но черт даже с ними с поздравлениями. Более важно другое. (via tijd)

MS. SANDERS: Look, in terms of the election there, we’re focused on our elections. We don’t get to dictate how other countries operate. What we do know is that Putin has been elected in their country, and that’s not something that we can dictate to them how they operate. We can only focus on the freeness and the fairness of our elections, something we 100 percent fully support and something we’re going to continue to do everything we can to protect to make sure bad actors don’t have the opportunity to impact them in any way.

Как сразу же отметили многие, ответ Сандерс -- очевидное лицемерие. Например:

Vice President Pence on Wednesday is scheduled to speak to the Organization for American States and is expected to press the Latin American group’s members to raise pressure on Venezuela’s government to hold free and fair elections.

Но даже черт с ним, с лицемерием. Многие спрашивают, что Россия выиграла от избрания Трампа. Сам по себе отказ президента США от критики ситуации с правами человека в России, отказ от критики того, как в России проводятся выборы уже существенный выигрыш для России.

tijd приводит знаменитое заявление Хиллари Клинтон в декабре 2011 года:

We have serious concerns about the conduct of those elections. Independent political parties, such as PARNAS, were denied the right to register. And the preliminary report by the OSCE cites election day attempts to stuff ballot boxes, manipulate voter lists, and other troubling practices.

And we recognize the Russian Government’s willingness to allow the OSCE to observe these elections, we now hope and urge them to take action on the recommendations that will be forthcoming from the OSCE electoral observer mission.

The Russian people, like people everywhere, deserve the right to have their voices heard and their votes counted. And that means they deserve fair, free, transparent elections and leaders who are accountable to them.

Вскоре после этого Вы за него проголосовали - значит он был прав.

Если б Трамп не поздравил Путина с победой, Вы б его всё равно не похвалили.
Потому Трамп прав - ему нет смысла пытаться вам угождать т.к. это всё равно бесполезно, лучше ему угождать тем от кого ему какой-то толк может быть.
