Часть о том, что Трамп убедил своих сторонников в нечестности американских выборов (что уже нанесло непоправимый ущерб стране, добавлю я от себя), безусловно, верна. А часть про то, что ничего из попыток Трампа и республиканцев переиграть выборы не получится, верна вероятно.

Mark Joseph Stern:

Republicans are helping Trump create a harrowing atmosphere of very real, deep fear that he might stage a coup. I feel it, too. But there is no substance behind his theatrics. There are no remotely plausible scenarios in which he will prevail. He will leave office on Jan. 20.

I am intensely pessimistic about everything related to Trump. But none of his lawsuits stand a chance of overturning the outcome of this election. Yes, even with THIS Supreme Court. Trump’s delegitimization of the election may have horrific consequences. But he will leave office.

And to be clear, I absolutely believe there were scenarios in which Trump could steal the election. I wrote about them! But we are not in one. We aren’t even close. The recent actions of Trump and the GOP are truly odious—banana republic stuff. But they won’t work. He will leave.

I am very worried about the consequences of Trump and Republicans convincing their voters that Democrats rig elections through mass voters fraud! I’m worried about future elections that are within stealing distance for the GOP. But I am not worried that Trump will steal this one.

О краже голосов у Трампа

Трамп имеет длинную историю заявлений о том, что любое его поражение объясняется мошенничеством врагов. Ну, он и с тем, что он не получулил телевизионную премию за свое шоу, до сих про не может смириться. Сейчас, когда он и вся республиканская партия вслед за ним пошли совсем вразнос, стоит вспомнить об этом.

Многие, наверное, помнят о заявлениях Трампа о миллионах нелегальных иммигрантов, проголосовавших за Хиллари Клинтон четыре года назад. Он тогда даже учредил комиссию по расследованию этих возмутительных фактов, которая, комиссия, правда, закончила свое существование вообще без каких бы то ни было результатов.

Но, думаю, куда меньше людей помнят о реакции Трампа на свое поражение на первых республиканских праймериз в 2016 году. Так что я напомню:

Комизм нынешней американской трагедии -- если в ней, вообще, есть что-то смешное -- заключается в том, что этот самый Senator Ted Cruz, дай ему бог задоровья, виновный, по словам Трампа, в мошенничестве на выборах, сейчас с энтузиазмом поддерживает еще более бредовые обвинения Трампа в мошенничестве на общих выборах.

Это все, что нужно знать о республиканской партии в эпоху Трампа.

P.S. Было бы хорошо, если бы Круз, наконец, признался в своем мошенничестве на праймериз в Айове и рассказал о том, как он его провернул. Это бы помогло Трампу изобличить нынешнее мошенничество демократов.

Remember this too. It's not even that the GOP claims are unsubstantiated. They don't actually have any claims. They amount to just saying it just doesn't look right and mail in voting seems weird. Those aren't claims.

The closest they come is this charge that GOP election observers were removed from the counting area. But that charge is one the campaign's lawyers have admitted in court is not true.

There's no argument to have because they're not actually making any claims. Indeed, in their pressers they kept asking for "patience" so they can come up with some explanation of why they're not accepting that the President lost.

Their only specific claim on the law is that ballots mailed before Election Day but received after election Election Day shouldn’t be allowed. That is a highly dubious and civically wrong argument. But it’s irrelevant since Trump lost without those votes being counted.
