Donald Trump says there is 'no time limit' for North Korea to denuclearise

Robert E Kelly:
Trump: There’s no time limit for N Korean denuclearization. I.e., the last 5 mos & all that big talk of CVID, a Nobel, this time is different, nuclear threat is over, etc was just another Trump snow-job. Good grief. Why do we even listen to this guy anymore?
Why did anyone ever take Trump’s North Korea diplomacy seriously?"

Why are we taking Donald Trump’s Korea diplomacy seriously?

All he does is lie and break promises. This will be no different.

Donald Trump is a liar. More than that, he’s a fraud. Not just a person who makes factual misstatements but a person who has gotten ahead in life through extensive use of bullshit, leaving in his wake a trail of broken promises.
<...>
Instead of talking about these risks, however, the mainstream press — Time, the New York Times, CNN, etc. — seems obsessed with the possibility that maybe Trump will deliver a historic diplomatic breakthrough with Pyongyang and then not receive the level of credit and adulation he deserves.
Right...

Moving on. Robert E Kelly:
I know McFaul & Russia are huge right now, but this should not slip below the waves: Trump basically just admitted that we are back to Obama's strategic patience on N Korea.

So all the threats of last year and sucking-up of this year didn't work, as so many predicted, and Obama's path, which Trump claimed would lead us to a war killing 50 million people, is where Trump has now defaulted back to.

Naturally he won't admit that, and the MIA returns are good. But basically, we're back to containment and deterrence, sanctions and isolation, until maybe, the South Korean detente effort works. But that will take a decade or more on nukes, and Pyongyang certainly won't give up everything, although maybe we can cap them at their current arsenal if we're lucky.

So if there is "no rush," that means we are adapting to a North Korean nuclear weapons state, which is also what many predicted, but Trump and his war cabinet said we could never do.

All this was entirely predictable; speaks well of Obama's post-Leap Day Deal, don't-deal-with-them-unless-they're-serious approach; and demonstrates yet again that Trump got rolled in Singapore.

Kim Jong Un got the optics, legitimation, and milex, and Trump got "We have no time limit. We have no speed limit."

That's what happens when an unprepared, unread POTUS rushes into something he doesn't understand. Kinda sounds like everything else in this administration.

Now it's all up to SK Prez Moon. Can he actually get nuke & missile caps w/out giving away too much? That is the big question. We're 7 mos into this detente & we still have no idea, which doesn't bode well, as NK notoriously strings out negotiations.

I think that's an incredible offer. Thank you."

Сандерс ответила, что мы это предложение обсудим и решим: "The President's going to meet with his team and we'll let you know when we have an announcement on that."

It is a proposal that was made in sincerity by President Putin, but President Trump disagrees with it. Hopefully President Putin will have the 12 identified Russians come to the United States to prove their innocence or guilt.
Kaitlan Collins
To bring everyone up to speed: When Trump said he didn’t see why Russia would meddle, he meant wouldn’t. When he said no, Russia wasn’t targeting U.S., he meant no to questions. When he said Putin’s offer to interrogate Americans was incredible, he meant he disagrees with it.

Putin Tells Diplomats He Made Trump a New Offer on Ukraine at Their Summit
Vladimir Putin told Russian diplomats that he made a proposal to Donald Trump at their summit this week to hold a referendum to help resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine, but agreed not to disclose the plan publicly so the U.S. president could consider it, according to two people who attended Putin’s closed-door speech on Thursday.

White House officials didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
