Алабама: "Pray More" и WP хуже Путина

Пока все похоже на ситуацию с Трампом.

По горячим следам сняться с выбором Мора призвали Маккейн и Ромни.

Маккейн вчера:

The allegations against Roy Moore are deeply disturbing and disqualifying. He should immediately step aside and allow the people of Alabama to elect a candidate they can be proud of.

Ромни сегодня:

Innocent until proven guilty is for criminal convictions, not elections. I believe Leigh Corfman. Her account is too serious to ignore. Moore is unfit for office and should step aside.

Пара сенаторов, которые ранее endorsed Мора, сегодня его unendorsed (тоже очень похоже на известные события) -- Mike Lee, Steve Daines‏. Ли (один из самых консервативных сенаторов, если не ошибаюсь) написал так:

Having read the detailed description of the incidents, as well as the response from Judge Moore and his campaign, I can no longer endorse his candidacy for the US Senate.

Есть, впрочем, и другие мнения. Сильно другие.

Paul Reynolds, the Republican national committeeman from Alabama, told The Hill that something about the timing of the accusation and the Post’s role breaking the story “doesn’t smell right.”

“My gosh, it's The Washington Post. If I’ve got a choice of putting my welfare into the hands of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin or The Washington Post, Putin wins every time,” he said.

“This is going to make Roy Moore supporters step up to the plate and give more, work more and pray more."

Тут же появились результаты опроса, я ничего не знаю о репутации этой конторы. Согласно этого опроса, до вчерашней новости Мор был впереди Джоунса на примерно 6 процентных пунктов. Что, вообще-то очень мало, учитывая, что Трамп выиграл Алабаму с перевесом в 28 пунктов. А после этой новости Мор и Джоунс сравнялись -- 46.4% у Мора на 46% у Джоунса.

Из того же опроса -- 73% республиканских избирателей Алабамы не считают, что Мор должен сняться с выборов. Я видел, что в Твиттере это подают как высокий процент, но, по-моему, это достаточно невысокий процент.

Интересно, как эти 73% делятся на верящих и не верящих информации WP. Те, кто считает, что WP -- fake news, это, безусловно, совершенно запутавшиеся люди.

Я не уверен, что на данный момент верна оценка Иглесиаса:

There’s a profound split in the GOP between the faction enthusiastically backing a Moore and the faction reluctantly backing Moore.

Но когда дойдет дело до выборов, думаю, так и будет.
