yakov_a_jerkovПримерно год назад Трамп назвал нелегальных иммигрантов животными. Я тогда об этом подробно написал -- "These aren’t people. These are animals."
Трамписты очень возмутились тем, что слова Трмпа были "вырваны из контекста". Трамписты утверждали, что Трамп говорил о членах MS-13. Даже если бы Трамп, действительно, говорил только об MS-13 (это не так, о чем а подробно написал в записи по ссылке) это было бы совершенно дикое и, главное, очень опасное высказывание президента.
Но я думаю, что трамписты, в общем, хорошо понимали, что Трамп говорит не об MS-13, и просто участвовали в подмигивании.
Хорошо иллюстрирует это подмигивание история с использованием Трампом термина "враги народа" в отношении прессы.
Когда Трамп первый раз назвал журналистов врагами народа, это был относительно big deal. Ну, как для Трампа -- то есть через пару дней об этом забыли, конечно. Я тогда запостил запись об этом -- "О врагах народа".
Вот тот твит Трампа:
Поговорим о втором пункте, поскольку он очень похож на "Трамп говорил об MS-13".
Со времени первого твита, Трамп обиделся, что его высказывания о врагах народа неверно интерпретируют:
Я не знаю, запостит ли Трамп твит со словами "нелегальные иммигранты are truly not people", но когда мы читаем о "вырванных из контекста" словах Трампа о животных, мне кажется, полезно иметь в виду историю о "неверной интерпретации" высказываний Трампа о врагах народа.

У этой защиты было два направления: (1) "враги народа" по-английски звучит совсем не так зловеще, как по-русски; (2) Трамп не говорит вообще о прессе, только о "fake news media", то есть о тех, кто пишет вымышленные статьи, даром, что Трамп перечислил большинство крупнейших американских СМИ, -- ну, вот такие СМИ в Америке.

They are truly the ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!Важно тут не то, что Трамп наконец высказался предельно ясно. Важно то, что изначально Трамп называл журналистов врагами народа. Не каких-то отдельных журналистов, пишущих лживые статьи, а журналистов, честно выполняющих свою работу, как таковых. И те, кто говорили о неверной интерпретации и подчеркивали "fake news", прекрасно это понимали.
Я не знаю, запостит ли Трамп твит со словами "нелегальные иммигранты are truly not people", но когда мы читаем о "вырванных из контекста" словах Трампа о животных, мне кажется, полезно иметь в виду историю о "неверной интерпретации" высказываний Трампа о врагах народа.

Ситуация простая на самом деле. Трамп ждал, что число переходов границы уменьшится, и он отрапортует, как решил проблему своей несуществующей стеной. По независящим от него причинам число переходов увеличилось. . Осталось сделать Нильсен козой отпущения и нагнетать ситуацию, ибо других предвыборных лозунгов для 2020 нет.

Senior administration officials say that Trump then ordered Nielsen and Pompeo to shut down the port of El Paso the next day, Friday, March 22, at noon. The plan was that in subsequent days the Trump administration would shut down other ports.
Nielsen told Trump that would be a bad and even dangerous idea, and that the governor of Texas, Republican Greg Abbott, has been very supportive of the President.
She proposed an alternative plan that would slow down entries at legal ports. She argued that if you close all the ports of entry all you would be doing is ending legal trade and travel, but migrants will just go between ports.

Ultimately, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney seemed to have been able to talk the President out of closing the port of El Paso. Trump, however, was insistent that his administration begin taking another action -- denying asylum seekers entry. Nielsen tried to explain to the President that the asylum laws allow migrants from Central America to come to the US and gain entry. She talked to the White House counsel to see if there were any exceptions, but he told her that her reading of the law was correct. <...>

Sources told CNN that Nielsen tried to explain they could not bring the policy back because of court challenges, and White House staffers tried to explain it would be an unmitigated PR disaster.

Last night, on the second floor of the East Wing of the White House residence -- in a room called the yellow oval -- Nielsen, Mulvaney and the President met. Nielsen tried to present a path forward that was legal and in compliance with US laws but the President said to her, "This isn't working." And Nielsen did not disagree.
"At the end of the day," a senior administration official said, "the President refuses to understand that the Department of Homeland Security is constrained by the laws."
