Moving forward, we ask that you employ basic journalistic standards when booking such guests to appear anywhere in your universe of productions. You should begin by asking the basic question: "Does this guest warrant further appearances in our programming, given the outrageous and unsupported claims made in the past?"

Кампания Трампа призывает телепродюсеров не приглашать гостей, которые делают "outlandish", "outrageous" и, о ужас, "unsupported" (!) claims.

Кампания Трампа! Think about it. Нет, серьезно, think about it.

P.S. Приведенные в мемо цитаты, конечно, just fine, но я не об этом.

Я думаю, что призыв кампании человека, известного, главным образом, своими outrageous and unsupported claims, не приглашать на телепередачи людей, who made outrageous and unsupported claims in the past, демонстрирует такой уровень chutzpah, что не полюбоваться на это невозможно.

Я хотела об этом написать, а потом махнула рукой. Эти персонажи настолько потеряли всякую совесть, что никакие призывы не то что к порядочности, а просто к логике, до них не дойдут. Трамп совершенно четко движется в сторону автократии, а они делают вид, что не понимают.

Right-wingers spend so much time complaining about perceived campus craziness that you’d expect the few colleges they control to be beacons of free speech and campus freedom. But when you look at the most prominent Christian conservative college, Liberty University, it’s clear that this isn’t the case. <...>
On no issue is Liberty’s hypocrisy more obvious than freedom of speech. Time and time again, university administrators betray their stated values and embrace authoritarianism. In 2016, Falwell himself censored an anti-Trump column in Liberty’s student newspaper, preventing publication of criticism of the Access Hollywood tape where Trump made grotesque comments about grabbing women. This censorship came only a week after Falwell released a statement celebrating Liberty’s commitment to free expression.
Administrators evidently find no shame in espousing rhetoric about free speech while simultaneously silencing their critics on campus. In 2009, Liberty “derecognized” the school’s chapter of College Democrats because the national Democratic Party is pro-choice, and dares to “promote the LGBT agenda.”
“Even as a private institution, Liberty students receive more than $772 million in federal funds.”
When an anti-Trump Christian activist came to Liberty to pray with students, he was forcibly removed by police. The administration cited “safety” concerns, asserted their private property rights, and banned him from campus. Administrators might legally have the right to do this, and it also happens, to a lesser extent, at other private religious schools—but that doesn’t make Liberty’s hypocrisy any less heinous.
As it turns out, administrators at Liberty won’t even tolerate libertarians. A booth set up by Liberty students from Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) to discuss marijuana legalization was shut down by campus police, who didn’t want any drug-related content on display.
For all their talk about political correctness and free speech, Liberty administrators have essentially turned their campus into a safe space for the far right. In 2006, members of a gay rights advocacy groups were arrested when they stepped foot on Liberty’s campus. Falwell was unabashed in his explanation, saying that Liberty will not “permit them to espouse opinions or otherwise suggest beliefs... that are in opposition to the morals and values that this institution promotes.”

На выборах 2016 телеканалы доставляли не только прямую трансляцию трампингов, но и такое явление, как суррогаты Трампа. На выборах 2020 приходится ждать их возвращения, хотя и с заменой некоторых персонажей.

Al Baldasaro, a surrogate for Trump on veterans’ issues, said in a radio interview that Clinton should be “put in the firing line and shot for treason.” He also suggested Khizr Khan, the Gold Star father who spoke at the Democratic convention, is a “Muslim Brotherhood agent.”
Surrogate Scottie Nell Hughes, a TV regular, said after Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Kaine spoke in Spanish: “I’m hoping I’m not going to have to start kind of brushing up on my ‘Dora the Explorer’ to understand some of the speeches.” Hughes, asked on CNN about the possibility of violence at the Republican convention, said: “Riots aren’t necessarily a bad thing.”
Rudy Giuliani, once revered as “America’s mayor,” has become a punchline as Trump surrogate for playing doctor on Fox News: “Go online and put down ‘Hillary Clinton illness.’ Take a look at the videos for yourself.”
Surrogate Omarosa Manigault, once a contestant on “The Apprentice,” defended violence against demonstrators at Trump events: “You get what’s coming to you.” Andrew Dean Litinsky, also a former “Apprentice” contestant, defended a 78-year-old Trump supporter who sucker-punched a black protester at a Trump event: “It looks like good exercise.”
On CNN, surrogate Jeffrey Lord has distinguished himself by saying the Ku Klux Klan is “a function of the left.” After Trump said the U.S.-born judge in a case against him was a “Mexican” whose heritage disqualified him, Lord said those criticizing Trump were the real racists. And young Trump surrogate Kayleigh McEnany cheerfully defended waterboarding as a “bit of discomfort.”
Paid mouthpieces for the Trump campaign don’t fare a whole lot better. Trump lawyer Michael Cohen last year defended Trump against an old allegation by his first wife by falsely saying “you cannot rape your spouse.” Cohen recently became an Internet star when, asked on CNN about Trump’s poor poll numbers, he responded repeatedly and nonsensically: “Says who?”
Then there’s national spokeswoman (and reality TV star) Katrina Pierson, whose pre-Trump days include 2012 tweets asking if 9/11 was “an inside job” and lamenting that both President Obama’s and Mitt Romney’s fathers were born abroad. “Any pure breeds left?” she asked.
This month on CNN, she blamed the death of Army Capt. Humayun Khan (Khizr’s son) on Obama and Clinton: “It was under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that changed the rules of engagement that probably cost his life.”
Khan died in 2004, during George W. Bush’s first term. But no matter: In Trump’s surrogate circus, anything goes.
