"Invasion" -- звучит знакомо. Где-то я это слышал совсем недавно. А, да, вот где:

Конечно, сейчас все эти люди рассказывают о том, что нельзя винить президента, both sides и все такое. Benjy Sarlin спрашивает:

What I'd like to know is what changed about their dire warnings of Trump's unique role now that we see scenarios similar to what they warned about. Did he stop spreading hateful conspiracies? Did he stop invoking violence? Did he extend an olive branch? Did he apologize?

А что касается "каравана", то вот Fox News излагает все как есть.

А, вообще, предельо ясно о караване написал Adam Serwer:

If the migrants reach the U.S., they have the right under U.S. law to apply for asylum at a port of entry. If their claims are not accepted, they will be turned away. There is no national emergency; there is no ominous threat. There is only a group of desperate people looking for a better life, who have a right to request asylum in the United States and have no right to stay if their claims are rejected. Trump is reportedly aware that his claims about the caravan are false. An administration official told the Daily Beast simply, “It doesn’t matter if it’s 100 percent accurate … this is the play.” The “play” was to demonize vulnerable people with falsehoods in order to frighten Trump’s base to the polls.

Кто же мог предвидеть, что "the play" сыграет не сосем так, как предполагалось? Да много кто мог предвидеть, как видим, -- многие нынешние трамписты совсем недавно еще могли.

И кстати, у вас нигде не засвербило сказать, что караван - Трамповских рук дело, и при этом подсмеиваться над конспирологами, которые считали бомбы из пластиковых трубок делом рук демократов. Очень последовательная позиция, я вам скажу.

Вы меня спросили про "play", а не про сам караван.

В чем состоит "play" написано прямо в приведенной цитате, я даже выделил это место жирным шрифтом: "The “play” was to demonize vulnerable people with falsehoods in order to frighten Trump’s base to the polls."

А, я неправильно понял, что "караван" - это и есть "play", прошу прощения.

Не могу не отметить, что караван действительно льёт воду на мельницу Трампа, причём с безопасного расстояния. Тот, кто затеял этот цирк, явно подыгрывает Трампу. Не помешало бы и его сову за компанию натянуть на глобус, но боюсь, "по трезвяку" не получится.
