Начну издалека. Как я уже упоминал в предыдущей записи,
"covfefe", Трамп вчера толкал речь перед своими сторонниками в Нью-Джерси.
Как обычно бывает после ралли Трампа, Трамп и трамписты заявляют о каком-то сумасшедшем количестве собравшихся послушать Трампа, выгодно отличающем эти мероприятия от выступлений Байдена, послушать которого заходят три калеки, да и те по ошибке.
В ответ трампистам говорят, что что ж вы врете, сволочи, и начинается активный обмен фотографиями толпы на ралли с разных ракурсов и снятых в разное время.
В этот раз к дискуссии подключился старый друг и соратник Трампа, избежавший тюрьмы благодаря трамповскому помилованию, Роджер Стоун. Это я все к чему... Примерно месяц назад мне попался очень хороший
твит ведущего NPR, Дерека Томпсона:
Every once in a while, a reasonable conservative commentator will say it's crazy major news orgs have no one on staff to earnestly represent MAGA conservatism.
It sounds like a reasonable critique. MAGA is ~25-40% of America! How can you cover a country without somebody to represent this cohort?
But this is the problem.
Yes, MSM journalists get stuff wrong all the time and let their biases pull them in bad directions. But MAGA conservatism is a movement *entirely* dedicated to faithfully defending somebody who is biologically incapable of getting through a paragraph without lying. You can't build a reasonably objective news organization like "... this is our econ team, this is our science desk, and these folks we pay to scream about how the sky is green if Trump decides for whatever reason to lie about sky color on a Tuesday."
В 2016 году, после избрания Трампа, я цитировал статью канадского журналиста,
"Lessons for Americans from the city that elected Rob Ford". Приведу еще раз ту цитату:
The political centre will shift. The new administration's extreme positions — regardless of whether they bear any resemblance to actual conservatism — will be accepted as the new standard for the right. And people who fancy themselves moderates will weigh those nonsensical propositions with undue seriousness, plopping themselves on the middle ground between policy and insanity, as though that is the most reasonable and open-minded thing to do. This group may include an alarming number of elected Democrats.

Правда, сейчас уже нет совсем никакого смысла взывать "Wake the fuck up!" Тех, кто до сих пор не проснулись, уже буди не буди...
