Сможет ли Трамп простить самого себя?

Вчера в записи "Новые обвинения Трампу" я написал, что защита Трампа постарается оттянуть суд до после выборов 2024 года. И если у них это получится, плюс Трамп выиграет выборы — сложно сказать какова вероятность такого двойничка, но не ничтожно малая — то Трамп, так или иначе, добьется прекращения своего судебного преследования по многочисленным обвинениям.

Но, с другой стороны, также верно, что прекращение Трампом дел против самого себя... как бы он это ни оформил, самопомилованием ли, указанием ли DOJ закрыть дела, скорее всего, вызовет не просто скандал, но существенный кризис.

Such an order - cancel all the indictments against me - would spark the biggest firestorm scandal in American history, bigger than any of the outrages even in Trump's first term. Who's going to be the Attorney General to deliver that order? How many resignations at DoJ?

DoJ rules say a sitting president should not be indicted. They say nothing about what happens to an incoming president who has already been indicted. Does Congress meekly surrender? What if Democrats hold one or the other house? And what about the state trials?

The point is not to guess the answers to any of these questions. It's just to show that a Trump victory in 2024 won't make the Trump indictments go away so fast and easy.

A Trump election in 2024 quiets nothing. It's a formula for huge, indefinite, unlimited national political crisis, more impeachments. Trump cannot "win" his legal battles. He will only convulse the country in his effort to save himself.
