Немного оптимизма

Я много пишу об опасности, которую представляет трампизм, для поддержки Украины. Однако, нельзя не согласиться со сказанным Anne Applebaum:

Right now, today, there is enormous bipartisan support for Ukraine. The president has just been to Kyiv; lots of Republicans were in Munich very clearly supporting the war effort. So why do so many people want to talk about idiotic things said by Marjorie Taylor Green?

I mean yes, in two years, if Trump is re-elected then US support for Ukraine might flag. But that's a long way away and a lot of things will happen between now and then. Can't we cross that bridge if/when we come to it?

Также скажу то, что я говорил и раньше. Трампизм в республиканской партии не победил окончательно.

Вот лидер республиканцев в Сенате, Макконнелл: "My only criticism of the administration in our country so far is they have not seemed to provide the weapons that are needed fast enough. And I hope that they will do that."

Также Пенс, вероятный кандидат в президенты на следующих выборах: "While some in my party have taken a somewhat different view, there can be no room in the leadership of the Republican Party for apologists for Putin. There can only be room for champions of freedom."

Конечно, популярность Макконнелла и Пенса в республиканской партии в данный момент близка к нулю, чего, к сожалению, не скажешь о популярности Трампа и ДеСантиса, но тем не менее.
