Pray for our Kurdish allies who have been shamelessly abandoned by the Trump Administration. This move ensures the reemergence of ISIS.

"Shamelessly abandoned by the Trump Administration" -- впрочем, было время Грэм регулярно высказывался о Трампе и более жестко. Но это время прошло.

Mitt Romney:

Reports indicate Turkey is predictably attacking the Kurdish allies we abandoned. It’s a tragic loss of life among friends shamefully betrayed. We can only hope the President’s decision does not lead to even greater loss of life and a resurgence of ISIS.

Тут дело в том, что это простой народ может только молиться и надеяться, да и даже в случае простого народа, другой подход тоже, в принципе, возможен. А вот сенаторам-республиканцам доступны меры воздействия на президента куда как эффективнее, чем мольбы и надежды.

Ромни хотя бы сохраняет достоинствo в своих высказываниях на тему импичмента, Грэм же последние годы, главным образом, занимается оправданием поведения Трампа и активно поддерживает Белый Дом в противодействии нынешней impeachment inquiry.

Кстати, о событиях вчерашнего дня. Вот Trey Gowdy. Только не вчера, а в 2012 году. Сейчас, вроде, Трамп планирует сделать Гауди своим outside counsel. Как раз будет обосновывать "absolute right" президента "to withhold information and documents from Congress".

Президент США объясняет, что "alliances are very easy".

The Kurds are fighting for their land, just so that you understand. They are fighting for their land. And somebody wrote a very, very powerful article today. They did not help us in the Second World War; they did not help use with Normandy as an example; they mention names of different battles... but they were there to help us with their land and that is a different thing.

This is like Israel and the Palestinians, OK? There is only one difference: maybe the hatred is even greater. Is it possible? Maybe not. [...]

Про Израиль с палестинцами хорошо получилось. Трампистам-израильтянам на заметку. Если курды с турками -- это как Израиль с палестинцами, то и в другую сторону это тоже ведь работает. Зачем обеспечивать безопасность Израиля и тратить "tremendous amounts of money"? Did Israel help us with Normandy, by the way?

Так вот о with Normandy. Это "very, very powerful article today" -- вот она.

Что интересно, автор статьи хотя бы makes sense. Он говорит, что ну да, курды помогли, но это ж не то, как если бы они нам помогли во Второй Мировой Войне.

Трамп же говорит "they did not help us with Normandy" совершенно серьезно, как о претензии к курдам. Почему? Потому что он настолько глуп, нет тут никакого другого объяснения.

Trump Urged Top Aide to Help Giuliani Client Facing DOJ Charges:

President Donald Trump pressed then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to help persuade the Justice Department to drop a criminal case against an Iranian-Turkish gold trader who was a client of Rudy Giuliani, according to three people familiar with the 2017 meeting in the Oval Office.

Tillerson refused, arguing it would constitute interference in an ongoing investigation of the trader, Reza Zarrab, according to the people. They said other participants in the Oval Office were shocked by the request.

Tillerson immediately repeated his objections to then-Chief of Staff John Kelly in a hallway conversation just outside the Oval Office, emphasizing that the request would be illegal. Neither episode has been previously reported, and all of the people spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the conversations.

The White House declined to comment. Kelly and Tillerson declined to comment via representatives. Another person familiar with the matter said the Justice Department never considered dropping the criminal case.
