Что касается "нецензурных слов": предварительная цензура в США отсутствует, но некоторые слова не рекомендованы к употреблению на общедоступных радио- и телеканалах, и их употребление штрафуется. Ведущие печатные издания не цензурируются, но, как правило, этих слов тоже избегают, если только не передают прямую речь.
Что касается слова "fuck" и его производных, в последнее время оно действительно стало несколько более употребимым, чем раньше. В заметке 2014 года говорится:

Благодарю нашему президенту, известному борцу с политической корректностью, разным СМИ пришлось принимать редакционные решения о пропуске таких слов, как "pussy" и "shithole"
