If the migrants reach the U.S., they have the right under U.S. law to apply for asylum at a port of entry. If their claims are not accepted, they will be turned away. There is no national emergency; there is no ominous threat. There is only a group of desperate people looking for a better life, who have a right to request asylum in the United States and have no right to stay if their claims are rejected. Trump is reportedly aware that his claims about the caravan are false. An administration official told the Daily Beast simply, “It doesn’t matter if it’s 100 percent accurate … this is the play.” The “play” was to demonize vulnerable people with falsehoods in order to frighten Trump’s base to the polls.Кто же мог предвидеть, что "the play" сыграет не сосем так, как предполагалось? The U.S. Treasury Department estimates it will issue more than $1 trillion in debt this year as higher government spending and sluggish tax revenues push the deficit higher.
The Treasury said Monday it expects net marketable debt to total $425 billion in the fourth quarter, which would bring total debt issuance in 2018 to $1.338 trillion, compared with $546 billion in 2017. That would be the highest annual debt issuance since $1.586 trillion in 2010, when the U.S. economy was still crawling out of a recession.
The Treasury’s fourth-quarter borrowing estimate of $425 billion is $15 billion less than it estimated in July. That would be the most for any fourth quarter since 2008, at the height of the financial crisis, though the figures can be volatile from quarter to quarter. The Treasury also plans to borrow $356 billion in the first quarter of 2019, compared with $488 billion in the first quarter of 2018.
Rising federal budget deficits are boosting the Treasury’s borrowing and could restrain economic growth as the cost of credit also rises.

Особенно забавно было, когда этими банкротствами Трампа попрекали люди, которые ни доллара честно не заработали, всю жизнь провели в политике да на госслужбе.

Юридические лица существуют не для этого. Американский законы о банкротстве распространяются на физических лиц. Человек, который объявляет о банкротстве, избегает наказания, но наказанием для него становится то, что другие перестают ему верить и давать деньги в долг.
Американские банки давно выучили этот урок и перестали одалживать Трампу и его бизнесам. Американским избирателям этот урок еще предстоит освоить.

У вас могут быть другие представление о госслужбе, но люди, которые работают на государство в США, как правило, честно зарабатывают свою зарплату.
Что касается бизнес-деятельности Трампа, ничего честного в ней не было. Он и его семейство последовательно обманывали правительство (укрываясь от налогов), инвесторов (используя инвестиции не по назначению, в том числе для выплаты личных долгов), контракторов (систематически недоплачивая по контрактам) и клиентов (предоставляя им ложные сведения). Им пока что удавалось избежать наказания за жульничество, но это дело времени.
