Still reading this but what's remarkable to me is the strength of the language -- "fraud," "sham" "con -- etc. and what kinds of legal/journalism conversations must have gone into those word choices.

One other thought: Trump himself said he was audited every year starting in 2002. This story -- thorough and exhaustive and detailed and impressive as it is -- doesn't even get into any of whatever the IRS looked into the past 16 years.

When Trump’s children Donald Jr. and Ivanka were planning a trip to Moscow in 2006, Sater said that Trump asked him to squire them around the city.
“They were on their way by themselves, and he was all concerned,” Sater said. “He asked if I wouldn’t mind joining them and looking after them while they were in Moscow.”

Московский проект тогда не удался, но через это партнёрство Трамп выйдет на международную арену и с помощью своих детей займётся строительством прачечных для отмывания денег. Это держало его на плаву следующие 10 лет. Подробности нам ещё предстоит узнать.
