US government wiretapped former Trump campaign chairman

US investigators wiretapped former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort under secret court orders before and after the election, sources tell CNN, an extraordinary step involving a high-ranking campaign official now at the center of the Russia meddling probe.

The government snooping continued into early this year, including a period when Manafort was known to talk to President Donald Trump.

Some of the intelligence collected includes communications that sparked concerns among investigators that Manafort had encouraged the Russians to help with the campaign, according to three sources familiar with the investigation. Two of these sources, however, cautioned that the evidence is not conclusive.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's team, which is leading the investigation into Russia's involvement in the election, has been provided details of these communications.

A secret order authorized by the court that handles the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) began after Manafort became the subject of an FBI investigation that began in 2014. It centered on work done by a group of Washington consulting firms for Ukraine's former ruling party, the sources told CNN.

The surveillance was discontinued at some point last year for lack of evidence, according to one of the sources.

The FBI then restarted the surveillance after obtaining a new FISA warrant that extended at least into early this year.

Sources say the second warrant was part of the FBI's efforts to investigate ties between Trump campaign associates and suspected Russian operatives. Such warrants require the approval of top Justice Department and FBI officials, and the FBI must provide the court with information showing suspicion that the subject of the warrant may be acting as an agent of a foreign power. The White House declined to comment for this story. A spokesperson for Manafort didn't comment for this story.

Paul J. Manafort was in bed early one morning in July when federal agents bearing a search warrant picked the lock on his front door and raided his Virginia home. They took binders stuffed with documents and copied his computer files, looking for evidence that Mr. Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chairman, set up secret offshore bank accounts. They even photographed the expensive suits in his closet.

The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, then followed the house search with a warning: His prosecutors told Mr. Manafort they planned to indict him, said two people close to the investigation.

Ну что, будем возвращаться к вашим постам весны-лета и вспоминать как вы и ваши соратники издевались над Трампом, когда он использовал это слово, а также как вы все с пеной у рта доказывали, что все его высказывания о слежке и подслушивании людей из его окружения - это плоды "больного воображения" Трампа и "трамперов"?
Или всё-таки сразу признаете, что были неправы?

Кореей и американской противоракетной обороной, а также поблагодарим Трампа за то, что хоть он наконец-то помог обамским соратникам и однопартийцам открыть глаза и вдруг представить себе весь кошмар ситуации.

Как интересно, так значит, Трампа и его людей все же прослушивали. А как над ним издевались, когда он этим возмущался в своем Твиттере.

Причем интересно так: начали прослушивать Манафорта в 2014, ничего не нашли, и опять начали прослушивать уже в 2016, когда кампания Трампа набрала обороты.

Ну явно же по политическим мотивам.

Не понимаю, и чего все так с этими прослушками носятся. Начиная с Трампа: ах боже ж мой, Обама таппил мои фоны. Как будто после откровений гнусного предателя Сноудена, крысу ему за пазуху, тот факт, что Обама мочится в подъездах россиян прослушивает телефоны американцев, не стал общим местом.

1. Именно Манафорту мы обязаны Майком Пенсом. Трамп обещал вице-президентство Крису Кристи, но хитрыми маневрами Манафорт уломал его взять Пенса.

Удивительно не это, а то, что он не взял ни копейки за свою работу у Трампа. При этом Тед Девин, который вместе с Манафортом работал на Януковича в Украине, а на выборах 2016 стал стратегом избирательной кампании Берни Сандерса, без стеснения взял с Сандерса $10 миллионов.

На следующий же день после своего увольнения Манафорт бросился одалживать деньги и закладывать свои дома - видимо для того, чтобы расплатиться с висевшими на нем предыдущими долгами.
