Mueller to testify publicly on July 17 following a subpoena

Robert Mueller will testify before Congress on July 17 after House Democrats issued a subpoena for his appearance, a move that paves the way for a reluctant special counsel to answer questions publicly for the first time about his 22-month investigation into President Donald Trump.

The House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees announced Tuesday that Mueller had agreed to testify after they issued subpoenas for his testimony, and Mueller would appear in public before the two panels next month.

В этой связи, интересно отметить, что после пресс-конференции Мюллера трамписты -- Джулиани, Хэннити и помельче -- взялись рассказывать, что хорошо бы было допросить Мюллера под присягой в Конгрессе. Вот бы дать возможность Джиму Джордану или Мэтту Гейтцу задать Мюллеру пару недудобных вопросов публично! Про Сэта Рича, наверное, не знаю.

dasblinkenlight: Разумеется, если бы позвали, то пришёл бы, как зайчик. Просто когда он объявил, что ничего нового о расследовании от него не услышат, у демократов моментально пропал интерес его звать. У республиканцев интерес остался, поскольку их волнуют совсем другие детали. Но республиканцы очень некстати теперь в меньшинстве, так что кто ж их теперь послушает?

yakov_a_jerkov: LOL. Республиканцы в меньшинстве в Хаусе. В Сенате они в большинстве и, соответсвенно, контролируют все комитеты. Если, скажем, Линдзи Грэм, глава Senate Committee on the Judiciary, решит вызвать Мюллера для дачи показаний, то кто ж ему может в этом помешать?

Другое дело, что до сих про Грэм говорил, что case closed и Мюллера слушать не нужно.

dasblinkenlight: Вот, кстати, да: как говорит мой виртуальный знакомый Яков, good point. Если повар нам не врёт, после выступления Мюллера у республиканцев неожиданно проснулся аппетит заслушать начальника транспортного цеха. Так что чем чёрт не шутит? Запасаемся попкорном!

Я, однако, думаю, что если Мюллера и вызовут для публичных показаний в Конгрессе, то вызовут его демократы, а не республиканцы. Республиканцам, а точнее, Трампу, конечно, Мюллер в новостях совсем ни к чему. Впрочем, посмотрим.

Естественно, трамписты, как всегда, оказались full of shit. В этом нет ничего нового, поэтому и "как всегда", но не забывайте о как всегда.

Вот сама subpoena. После показаний Мюллера, его deputies and staff дадут показания на закрытых слушаниях.



Update: Реакция президента. Это он, видимо, находится в предвкушении, как Джордан и Гейтц порвут Мюллера, как свинья фуфайку.

Из великодушия - чего позорить старика.
Даже Флинна не сумел посадить за два года, не говоря уж о пригожинской компании.

Может еще отвертится от повестки. Как что-то случилось с повесткой на трамповые налоги.

Звучит еще менее правдоподобно, чем недавние рассказы о том, что теперь все поменялось и именно республиканцы хотят публичных показаний Мюллера.

Акцент на "публичных". Демократы пытались его на закрытое заседание пригласить.
А на публичных ущерб можно компенсировать - оратор Мюллер плохой и виляние с ответами на неудобные вопросы повлияет на мнение публики.

Хорош врать. Демократы с самого начала пытались добиться показаний Мюллера на открытых слушаниях. Это Мюллер в какой-то момент, вроде бы, соглашался на закрытые.

Республиканцы вообще не приглашали Мюллера на слушания. А трамписты месяц назад врали о том, что хотят слушаний с Мюллером.

Раз соглашался - значит предлагали.

Не врали, а
1. Дразнились/троллили - типа спровоцировать демократов пойти в атаку без патронов.
2. Хотят, но только вопросы о шпионаже за кампанией Трампа.

Есть такой принцип "Если командир не может предотвратить пьянку подчинненых, он должен ее возглавить". В Сенате эта пьянка предотвращена. В Палате представитетей - нет, поэтому будет много вопросов, по которым отвечать "не помню" , "5я поправка", мямлить невразумительное - вода на [избирательную] мельницу Трампа.

Республиканцы провоцировали демократов вызвать Мюллера, рассказываю, что показания Мюллера очень выгодны Трампу и они сами спят и видят, как бы его вызвать.

Флинн снова оттянул свою посадку, поменяв адвоката.

The latest postponement is the result of a legal switch Trump's former national security adviser made recently, firing his group of attorneys in favor of Sidney Powell, an outspoken critic of special counsel Robert Mueller.
At a hearing Monday, Powell said she needs at least another 90 days to get up to speed on the case before Flynn receives his punishment for pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about his communications with a top Russian
“There are more moving pieces in this representation than there are in the movement of an old-fashioned Swiss watch,” Powell told the court.
The judge overseeing the case, Emmett Sullivan, decided to essentially grant Powell two months, ordering another status report at the end of August.

Никто не требовал публикации неотредактированного отчета. Требовали его передачи в Конгресс. На этом требовании удалось настоять.
