The way I see it, Trump is a wannabe dictator but not a militarist. Unlike Bush he has not started any major wars. I think his decision to pull back is a good indication that he does not want to start one. I see it as a plus regardless of his motives.

I also prefer this to a committed militarist like Bush Jr. I still think that overall Trump has been better for the country.
