Нет, до дебатов не дошло. Первые республиканские дебаты были 5 мая 2011, но там участвовало только пять кандидатов (Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Herman Cain, Gary Johnson). В середине мая Трамп сошел с предвыборной гонки и обновил контракт с NBC на Apprentice. Следующие дебаты, уже с участием Ромни, были в июне.

The national survey indicated that in a hypothetical general election matchup between President Barack Obama and Trump as the GOP nominee, Obama beat Trump by only two percentage points, 43 to 41, which was well with in the survey's sampling error.
