Типичной реакцией на очередную дикую выходку Трампа является "он делает то, для чего его избрали президентом".
И это практически всегда верно... если мы говорим о каком-то подмножестве избирателей Трампа. Но также верно, что многие избиратели Трампа не только не голосовали за "это", а, наоборот, совершенно "этого" не хотели.
Скажем, "Арабы за Трампа" голосовали за него, поскольку Трамп президент мира и прекратит уничтожение населения Газы. А "Евреи за Трампа" голосовали за него, поскольку Трамп этих чурок нерусских ненавидит, и не будет мешать Израилю вести войну так, как Израиль считает нужным.
Сторонники Украины голосовали за Трампа, потому что он сильный президент, Путин его боится и быстренько согласится на хотя бы прекращение боевых действий. (На самом деле, голосовали они за Трампа по совершенно другим причинам, конечно, а про Путин боится врали, в том числе и самим себе.)
Так вот к "борьбе с нелегальной иммиграцией", ради которой якобы Трампа и выбрали.
Очень много было сказано о том как сильно возросла популярность Трампа среди латиносов от выборов 2016 года до выборов 2024. В свете этого, приведу прочувствованный твит флоридского сенатора и основателя "Latinas for Trump", Ileana Garcia:
I stand with Congresswoman Salazar. As the state senator who represents her district and the daughter of Cuban refugees, who are now just as American, if not more so than Stephen Miller, I am deeply disappointed by these actions.
And I will not stand down.
I want to put myself on record: “This is not what we voted for. I have always supported Trump, through thick and thin. However, this is unacceptable and inhumane. I understand the importance of deporting criminal aliens, but what we are witnessing are arbitrary measures to hunt down people who are complying with their immigration hearings—in many cases, with credible fear of persecution claims—all driven by a Miller-like desire to satisfy a self-fabricated deportation goal. This undermines the sense of fairness and justice that the American people value.”
Можно, конечно, посмеяться над этой наивной женщиной, но я ее цитирую совершенно не для этого, а чтобы подчеркнуть, что с "ради этого за него и голосовали" все далеко не так однозначно.
